ABC television can wait 12 to 15 months before it decides how to fill the gap left by daytime TV queen Oprah Winfrey, who plans to end her talk show in 2011, said Disney/ABC Television Group president Anne Sweeney.
"Oprah has given us two years' notice, which is not something you generally see in television," Sweeney told Reuters on Monday. "We are certainly in the process right now of reviewing our options."
Sweeney, who is also co-chair of Disney Media Networks and oversees the ABC Television Network, described Winfrey as "one of a kind" but nonetheless said she could foresee a "myriad" of ways to replace the TV star.
Sweeney declined to comment on any specific replacements for Winfrey's show.
"I think it's going to be really interesting to see who comes forward and who emerges during this time as the next great idea, personality and then the next great piece of programing," she said.
"It's a matter of understanding the marketplace and thinking about what it's going to look like in two years and what is the best thing that you could be programing at that hour for consumers, and I think it's going to vary station to station," she said.
Winfrey will end her show to focus on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, a cable channel to be launched in partnership with Discovery Communications Inc.
Analysts say Disney and its ABC stations, which carry the show, could lose out financially from Oprah's decision. The show's large audiences have long boosted ratings and advertising for the stations and their local newscasts that follow it.
Michael Jackson's stunning death made him Yahoo's biggest star this year.
The quest to find out what happened to Jackson in his final hours on June 25 and celebrate his legacy elevated the late entertainer to the top of the Internet company's annual breakdown of the most frequent online search requests.
The self-proclaimed King of Pop ended singer Britney Spears' four-year reign atop Yahoo's search rankings.
The list released Tuesday is meant to provide a reading on our cultural pulse. It may not be the best barometer, given that Yahoo Inc. ranks a distant second to Google Inc. in Internet search. Google plans to release its own list of popular searches later this month. Jackson will probably rank high on Google, too. So many inquiries poured in about Jackson within the first few hours of his death that part of Google's Web site interpreted the fusillade as an automated attack.
As usual, people using Yahoo's search engine in 2009 seemed to be most interested in celebrities and other diversions, even against the sobering backdrop of the worst recession in 70 years.
Besides Jackson, the other new entrants on Yahoo's Top 10 list this year were: No. 2, "Twilight," the vampire story that has spawned two movies, including the recently released "New Moon," that are drawing hordes of teenage girls and their mothers; No. 4, Megan Fox, an actress who starred in the movie "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen;" No. 8, Kim Kardashian, part of a family with their own reality TV series; and No. 9, NASCAR, an automobile racing league.
The other half of the list consisted of 2008 holdovers. They were: No. 3, WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment; No. 5, Spears; No. 6, Naruto, a character created for the Japanese art form known as anime; No. 7, top-rated television series "American Idol;" and No. 10, RuneScape, an online video game.
Barack Obama made Yahoo's top searches list in 2008 as a presidential candidate and the President-elect, but fell off after he took office in 2009. The others falling out of the Top 10 were all actresses: Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan and Angelina Jolie.
Although the economy wasn't as hot a topic as entertainment in 2009, the hard times clearly weighed on people's minds. "Coupons" and "unemployment" were the most requested search tied to finances, according to Yahoo.
ABS-CBN has garnered 3 nominations at the prestigious 14th Asian TV Awards.
The station’s late night newscast, “Bandila,” is a finalist in the best news program category for its “EDSA Shootout” coverage.
Docu-drama “I Survived” is in the running for best current affairs program, while “Pilipinas, Game KNB?” is up for the best game or quiz program prize.
“Bandila” has already been cited by prominent award giving bodies like the International Emmy Awards, KBP Golden Dove Awards, and Star Awards for TV. It has been recognized for its ground-breaking coverage of important news events like the shootout in EDSA, which involved civilians who got caught in the crossfire.
It is anchored by Henry Omaga-Diaz, Ces Oreña Drilon and Korina Sanchez (on leave).
“I Survived,” meanwhile, was awarded the best reality show at the 1st MTRCB awards. The Drilon-anchored docu-drama is targeting its 2nd trophy in just 9 months on air, with an entry on a Filipina comfort woman’s ordeal during the Japanese occupation.
“Pilipinas, Game KNB?” is a regular Star TV Awards and Anak TV Seal winner. Recently, the game show’s host, Edu Manzano, was also awarded best male host during the MTRCB awards.
The Asian TV Awards is regarded as the Asian television industry’s most significant and prestigious event. On its 14th year, it aims to continue to recognize talent, spur industry progress, and build up the regional media.
The awarding ceremonies will be on December 3 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore.
For the first time in Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) history, the public gets to vote for the housemate they want to be evicted.
Kuya made this announcement during "PBB Double Up's" 7th nomination night on Sunday.
During the live nomination night, Big Brother announced that all housemates are this week's nominees.
Due to this big twist, the audience will vote to evict the housemate they want to leave the hit reality show in the upcoming 5th eviction night. Before this shocking development, Big Brother had the housemates undergo an unusual process of nomination where the housemates casted their votes on 2 housemates from the other house.
In that round of nominations, Johan Morielle Santos and Yuri Okawa were nominated from House A, while Rica Paras and Rocky Salumbides were the nominees from House B. Then in the second round of nominations, Big Brother gave each house the liberty to discuss and change the result of the nominations.
Rica and Rocky remained to be House B's nominees while Yuri was replaced by Kath Lopena-Ortega to join Johan for House A nominees.
The housemate with the highest percentage of vote will leave PBB house next week.

The debut album of Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who shot to fame on TV talent show "Britain's Got Talent," has become the fastest selling album in Britain this year.
Entering the music charts in the top spot on Sunday, Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" sold more than 410,000 copies -- the biggest first week sales for a debut album in UK chart history, the Official Charts Company said.
This month, the Sony Music record became the largest global CD pre-order in the 14-year history of Amazon.com.
The dowdy 48-year-old church volunteer, whose audition has been viewed more than 300 million times online since it was broadcast in April, has become a sensation worldwide, appearing on top U.S. chat shows such as Jay Leno and Oprah Winfrey. "Susan Boyle's achievement is quite phenomenal," said Martin Talbot, managing director of the Official Charts Company.
"After all of the excitement surrounding her appearance on 'Britain's Got Talent,' everyone expected her to make a big impact when she released her first music -- but to arrive with such a bang is exceptional."
The album has also topped the Australian and Irish charts and is also set to be No. 1 in the United States, Canada and New Zealand, Sony Corp's Sony Music said on Sunday.
Boyle, who was signed by music impresario Simon Cowell, also appeared in the UK singles chart with a cover of The Rolling Stone's hit "Wild Horses," which debuted at No. 9.
Peter Kay's Animated All Stars took pole position, with their single "The Official BBC Children in Need Medley" which climbed to the top spot from last week's No. 1.
The only other new entry in the top 10 singles was Rihanna's "Roulette," which debuted at number six.
Judy Ann “Judai” Santos was surprised to hear about Claudine Barretto’s transfer to another network.
As to whether or not the network transfer will stir up their rivalry issues again, Judai replied: “Kahit saan naman may competition. And it’s okay as long as it is a healthy competition. Ang mahalaga at the end of the day hindi nawawala yung pagiging magkaibigan namin.”
Judai said that she still hopes she can work with Claudine again.
“Hanggang ngayon nagdadasal pa din ako na sana dumating ang panahon na magkasama kami sa isang project. Maraming pwedeng mangyari, marami pang pwede magbago uli. Maraming posibilidad kaya hindi malayong mangyari ‘yung mga ganung bagay,” she said.
Meanwhile, Santos also defended her husband Ryan Agoncillo over the latter’s appearances in other networks.
She said: “Wala naman exclusive contract si Ryan with ABS-CBN, so okay lang naman ‘yun. Tsaka ‘yun talaga yung gusto niyang gawin, hosting. Dun talaga siya magaling.”
She said that as husband and wife, they support each other in every decision they make.
She also clarified the issue that just because Agoncillo has a lot of projects lined-up than her, there is a competition between the two of them.
“Bago pa man kami ikasal, talagang nakilala na kami sa kanya-kanya naming pangalan, siya bilang Ryan Agoncillo, magaling na host at ako isang simpleng artista. Tsaka dun naman talaga magaling si Ryan, sa pagho-host. Pero napatunayan rin naman niya na kaya niya umarte like sa Pieta ‘di ba?” she said.
Santos also disagreed with the idea that once an actress is already married, she loses her “market value.”
“I don’t think so. Bakit naman si Ate Shawie (Sharon Cuneta)? Bakit naman si Ate Vi (Vilma Santos)? Hanggang ngayon nandiyan pa rin sila,” she said.
Apl.de.ap, the Filipino American hip hop musician and member of the Black Eyed Peas, arrived at the Music Hall of the Mall of Asia Friday afternoon very much ahead of the scheduled time for a talent search show.
He was even a couple of hours advance than most of the contestants of MTV Philippines’ “Emerge,” a showcase of 7 homegrown Filipino bands.
Apl.de.ap, baptized Allan Pineda, didn’t mind the heat biting inside the hall. He had pleasantries with some members of the production. After a while, he came up the stage and sound checked.
He was, from afar, a solo delight from among the futuristic props set all over the platform, a perfect example of a truly professional star. And man! He was so humble despite his achievements in the international music business.
Off mike test, he went inside a bake shop and there he sat in an ordinary customer’s chair at the center of an improvised round table discussion.
He then gamely answered practically all questions, however limited, thrown on him.
He said he was in the country to judge the winning Pinoy bands and to help them break into the local and international music scenes through a one-year contract with his self-sustained Jeepney Music.
Not only was he judging the most excellent group but he would be mentoring each and every talent.
“The 7 winners really are what we were looking for. Their unique talents very well characterize what MTV Emerge is about—homegrown talents trying to reach out to the world through music while at the same time proudly representing our country,” said Apl.de.ap.
Imagine, the recording contracts of the acts, namely DRP, Faircatch, Mid Nasty, The Pin-Up Girls, Soul Brothers, The Band Glen (TBG) and Urbanation, would include artist management and promotion, digital distribution of 3 to 6 songs and a strategic marketing plan for them to be able to break into the Philippine and worldwide market.
During the competition, Apl was amazed by the talents of the Filipino youth.
We thought DRP would win hands down because most of the judges, Apl and singer-actress Karylle especially, were up in their seats while watching the group performed. Fellow jurors Rico Blanco, MTV Philippines’ Georgette Tengco and MTV SEA and Greater China’s Head of Content Sari Trisulo were just silently on their toes observing, discerning.
And as they deliberated, in the end, Faircatch caught their fancy.
“I would want the Filipino talents to shine not only here but the world over,” he beamed proudly. “I want them to spread Filipino culture across the globe.”
Apl has definitely brought the Filipino culture to the world, one of them the incorporation of Tagalog when he collaborated with the Black Eyed Peas’ “The Apl Song” from the album “Elepunk” and “Bebot” from the “Monkey Business” album.
He is also in partnership with the Department of Tourism as a performer cum endorser of its projects and promotional devises.
But would you believe that the only tourist attraction Apl has been to was Boracay?
“Yes, Boracay,” he confirmed. “But I would want to go to other tourist spots around the country.”
To compound his personal initiative to sell the Philippines to the world through music, he said he tried to inject the idea of coming to the Philippines in their gigs abroad, if there would be an opportune time, that is.
Whenever he is in the country, though, Apl sheepishly admitted he loves eating out in Jollibee, an information that sent the members of the press in awe.
Apl has also organized his own socio-civic group, the Apl Foundation, which provides support to remote communities and poor children in the Philipines and other parts of Asia. In the interview, Apl aired his concern for the victims of Mt. Pinatubo eruption.
Currently, Apl.de.ap is working on a solo album. He will also be collaborating with fellow Filipino-American Chad Hugo of the Neptunes and Illmind from G-Unit to put in traditional indigenous Filipino musical instruments into his songs.
Surely, a Filipino worth his salt like Apl is a cultural hero in our midst.
Source: abs-cbnnews.com Movie and television actress Angel Locsin returned home Saturday night after attending the 37th International Emmy Awards in New York in the United States.
Locsin, who was nominated for her performance in ABS-CBN teleseries "Lobo," failed to grab the best actress award, but she said she is still grateful for being nominated and to be part of the prestigious event.
Locsin said she is also proud that many international journalists have been captivated by her Filipino-designed gown.
“Nakakatuwa kasi na-appreciate nila ‘yong gown ko. Kinakausap nila ako ng iba’t ibang language. May taga-Brazil, China… I’m happy na na-appreciate nila ang gown ko.… Just being there, sobrang honor na,” she said. The actress also thanked ABS-CBN for giving her the opportunity to be part of “Lobo.” She was also grateful to her leading man, Piolo Pascual, who sent her a bouquet of flowers before the gala night.
“Hindi pa ako makapag-react kasi di ko naman sure kung [sa kanya nanggaling] ‘yon. Noong makita ko na sa kanya nga, happy ako. Very happy ako at nakatrabaho ko si Piolo,” she said.
Locsin is the second Filipina to be nominated under the best actress category in the competition.
She followed Tessie Tomas who was nominated for her role as former first lady Imelda Marcos in the 1989 film "A Dangerous Life."
Meanwhile, Malaysian actress Carmen Soo also said she is proud to be part of another International Emmy nominee, “Kahit Isang Saglit.”
ABS-CBN's "Kahit Isang Saglit" was also nominated under the telenovela category. The Filipino TV series lost to Brazil’s “India-A Love Story.”
Rob Stumvoll is the latest evictee in Pinoy Big Brother Double Up.
The “ladies man from Austria” got the lowest number of text votes (4.32%) among fellow nominees for eviction Rica Paras (38.55%), Jason Francisco (35.81%), Carol Batay (15.11%), and Patrick Villanueva (6.21%).
Rob humbly accepted his early exit from the competition, and the Filipino Austrian was welcomed back into the outside world by his mother.
Rob was able to speak to the housemates for one last time, and he told his friends in the two houses that he will wait for them until they can all get together again and party. Rob and all the other housemates experienced a drastic change this week, which dramatically tested their characters.
The girls from House A left their humble abode and crossed over to the other side, but the guys of House B seemed to be unwelcoming especially with Rica.
Rob, who once became close with Rica when they did a secret task during their first week inside the house, was apparently acting cold toward Rica when she came with the other girls from House A.
In one their conversations, the boys of House B referred to Rica, a transgender, by many offensive names. Although Rica told Big Brother that she was unaffected by these slurs, Kuya had to call the attention of the boys regarding their treatment of their housemates.
Rob and the other boys immediately apologized to Rica following their talk with Big Brother.
On the other hand, in House A, after being a solo dad to Baby Dengue, Jason had to give the baby doll back to Big Brother.
Jason and Dengue’s “mother,” Melisa Cantiveros, called on their respective lawyers and met in court this week to prove who deserved full custody of their child.
But instead of getting into a heated fight, Jason and Melai ended up admitting their romantic feelings for each other. The “Melason” couple then agreed to a settlement, but until that time, Dengue will remain under the care of “child services.”
Emotions are truly reaching the extremes inside Kuya’s house. If last week the housemates saw themselves through typhoon “Walay,” will they be able to survive new typhoon “Issa” that is threatening to hit them this week? How will this change the process of nomination?
It was a dream come true for international Filipina singer Charice when she met one of her idols, American R&B superstar Justin Timberlake.
In an exclusive interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Charice shared how happy she was when she got the chance to talk to Timberlake, the former lead singer of 1990s boy band ’N Sync.
"Finally, I met Justin Timberlake last November 4. Nagkaroon kami ng chance na makapag-usap at kinongrats niya ako [sa career ko]. (We had a chance to talk and he congratulated me on my career)," Charice said.
Charice, who claims to be a "big fan" of Timberlake, said she met Timberlake during the CS Board of Governors Gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, California. She said "yes" to performing at the gala event when she heard that Timberlake would be there too.
"Natutuwa ako noong sinabi niya kay sir (David Foster) na 'Where did you find this girl?' Kasi kumanta po ako doon sa gala. (I was happy when he told David foster, 'Where did you find this girl?' Because I sang at the gala)," said Charice who performed 3 songs at the gala.
Until now, Charice is hoping that she can perform onstage with Timberlake.
"He is a good performer. I admire him. He's so good at singing and he's great at dancing," Charice said in Filipino.
In his speech at the CS Board of Governors Gala, Timberlake said he was "really stunned" by Charice's performance.
"Thank you so much for inviting me here. I'm stunned with the talent Charice and Bryan (McKnight). This whole evening, I'm really blown away," Timberlake said.
Currently, Charice is taking a break in her mini-mansion at Tagaytay City. She is set to guest on ABS-CBN's ASAP '09 this coming Sunday (November 29).
After, she will be returning to the US before the year end to prepare for the launch of her first international album.
In December, Charice will hit the big screen as the voice of a chipmunk in the animated movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2."
Sundays have just gotten a new jolt of electricity through 'SOP Fully Charged!' If you think 'SOP' ruled before, you're in for a new treat as the choice Sunday Concert TV pulls out all the stops.
Super energized ang SOP Fully Charged this Sunday, with major launches ng Full House at Ang Panday. If that's not enough, makiki-party din sina Darna (Marian Rivera), Ding (Robert Villar) at Pancho (Dennis Trillo). Mark Herras will be launching his newest dance album; and La Diva premieres their first music video as a group.
If you were surprised by the changes in last week's SOP, expect more in the coming weeks, including this Sunday's live episode.
Nang makapanayam namin ang bagong Program Manager nito na si Ramel "Rams" David, he explained some of the changes that have happened and will continue to happen. Something new. "May segments, pero hindi regular 'yung artist doon sa segment. So 'yung segment, iba-iba 'yung puwedeng sumayaw, kumanta." ‘Yan ang sinabi sa amin ni Sir Rams about the new format.
At sa pagpasok ng new faces sa SOP, gaya nina Jake Vargas, Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio, Alex Casto, Jay Perillo, Prince Stefan and Edgar Allan Guzman, there will also be more new segments according to him.
This is one of the ways na naisip ng SOP to make the show more energized—by continuously providing performance after performance, which means less talk.
"Tapos, mayroon kaming running LED, na instead na may ina-announce na 'happy birthday,' 'thank you,' doon na lang. To save time."
Bukod dito, SOP Fully Charged also introduces the 'One Time' segment. Sir Rams explains, "parang labanan ‘yan every month. So three weeks na may iba-ibang production numbers. Tapos sa fourth week, malalaman kung sino 'yung nanalo sa voting. So kung sino may gusto nung number, puwede kang mag-vote."
Last week it was Gian Magdangal. Can you guess who will go out of their comfort zone this week?
Sir Rams said, "kaya SOP iLike e. Pwedeng mag-text, pwedeng mag-chat—interactive 'yung last hour."
Of course, the actual chat happens throughout the whole program. And you can join them this Sunday.
Regularly irregular. Another way of keeping viewers coming back is SOP Fully Charged's decision to rotate the younger performers every week, para hindi nasasawa ang mga viewers.
"Para we can give chance din to others," Sir Rams explained.
But of course, may ilang faces na hindi puwedeng mawala sa SOP—like Jolina Magdangal, Dennis Trillo, Heart Evangelista, Jan Nieto and La Diva. But Jolina and Jan will both be taking short breaks muna para sa isang grand image makeover.
Better preparations. With all these changes, siyempre kailangan sabayan rin ng mga performers ang continuous improvement na ginagawa ng show.
Kris Bernal, one of the re-launch performers, share with us: "Ngayon, mas mahaba na 'yung time ng rehearsals. Pinag-aaralan namin 'yung mga sayaw a week before the live episode. So ngayon medyo mas pulido, mas binabantayan 'yung bawat step, mas pinag-aaralan—at nagpupuyat kami."
Kaya naman mas matutuwa ang viewers sa mga mapapanood nila, according to Kris. "Kasi mas lalong pinagbubutihan at pinaghuhusayan ng lahat ng artista."
Dagdag pa niya, "talagang bawal ang walang energy."
SOP Fully Charged energizes your weekend viewing habits every Sunday after Joey's Quirky World. Don't miss this Sunday's episode as Lea Salonga takes the SOP concert stage for the very first time.

The Ranillo family is getting death threats as a result of the persistent rumors about Manny Pacquiao and Krista Ranillo.
The Ranillos made this revelation in a statement sent to ABS-CBN News.
They claimed that the death threats came from “some unknown individuals who are claiming that such inappropriate relationship exists.”
“All these death threats are continuing that is one of major reasons why the Ranillos have not returned to our country yet,” their legal counsel and spokesman, lawyer Tonisito Umali, told ABS-CBN North America News Bureau.
In the statement, signed by Krista’s father, veteran actor Mat Ranillo III, the family also categorically denied any inappropriate relationship between Pacquiao and Krista. “Our family is deeply saddened by the continuing negative publicity being hurled upon us as a result of the alleged inappropriate relationship of Ms. Krista Ranillo with Mr. Manny Pacquiao,” the statement read.
“We thought that our silence will stop all these lies being peddled in the Philippine media by some unscrupulous people,” it said.
Umali also said: “There is absolutely no inappropriate relationship that existed, that is existing between Mr. Manny Pacquiao and Ms Krista Ranillo.”
The Ranillo family also appealed to the media “to exercise balance, fairness and accuracy in their reporting.”
Actions
According to the official statement of the Ranillos, Umali is now studying whether television shows, news programs and major newspapers violated the rights of the Ranillos in reporting the alleged illicit affair.
The lawyer is also studying the “derogatory and untruthful comments made by Ms Gina Alajar in her Facebook (and published in major newspapers and shown in major TV shows) and other media personalities to determine whether such comments are considered unprotected speech or libelous.”
“Pinag-aaralan kong mabuti kung ano ang pananagutan ni Ms Gina Alajar.... very, very defamatory, very, very libelous,” Umali echoed.
When sought for comment, Alajar maintained: "I can say anything and everyting in my profile. Nobody can stop me."
Weeks ago, Alajar, a television and movie actress, wrote a controversial shout out in her Facebook account in connection with the alleged affair between Pacquiao and Krista.
It generated various reactions, but Alajar said she was standing by what she wrote. In her interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, she maintained that “it was just unsolicited advice from me to Jinkee.”
Meanwhile, the Ranillos said they will not issue any further statement “so as not to jeopardize our attorney’s efforts to study the legal implications of this negative publicity to our individual rights.”
‘Krista hurting’
According to Krista’s manager, Arnold Vegafria, the young actress is terribly hurt by the unfair accusations hurled against her.
In his interview with ABS-CBN News, Vegafria reiterated that contrary to rumors, Krista and Pacquiao are just friends. The talent manager added that the two got close while filming their movie “Wapakman.”
Vegafria also shot down speculations that Krista received P200 million from Pacquiao.
“Wala raw binibigay si Manny sa kanya... kahit balato. They are just friends. In-invite lang daw sila doon ng mga kaibigan to watch the fight... Mainit ang isyu kaya hindi na lang sila nanood ng fight,” he said.
Krista flew to Las Vegas reportedly to watch the fight between Pacquiao and Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.
Vegafria also declined to comment on photos of Pacquiao and Krista together in Baguio City, saying he has yet to see these pictures.
The talent manager said Krista was in Baguio City to work and it was just a coincidence that Pacquiao was also there for his training.
He confirmed that the entire Ranillo family is saddened by the issue. He added that Krista is not yet ready to face the public because she is still hurting.
Vegafria also defended his ward. “Mabait na bata ‘yon. Matalino at alam niya ang ginagawa niya.”
He also assured that Krista will fly back to the country “soon.”
When asked to give a message to Krista, he said: “Just relax, take it easy. In every problem, there’s always a solution.”
He also praised Pacquiao for apologizing to the Ranillos and denying the alleged affair.
Jinkee Pacquiao, wife of WBO welterweight champion Manny “Pacman” "Pacquiao," is in a fighting mood.
Amid rumors romantically linking Manny to sexy star Krista Ranillo, Jinkee gave a scathing message to the young actress in her interview with another network.
In the interview, it seemed that the wife has indirectly confirmed the alleged illicit affair.
Jinkee called on Ranillo to find a single guy for her. The wife pointed out that Ranillo is still young and has a great future ahead of her.
She also reminded Ranillo that Manny is a happily married man with four children.
Jinkee admitted that she is hurt by all the intrigues.
More so, she said, she is upset that people are now talking about her family. She said their personal affairs should be kept private for the sake of her children.
She vowed to fight and remain strong to keep her family intact. She said she and Manny have been together for 10 years and she would not give that up just because of these rumors.
She added that she may not be a perfect wife and perfect mother, but she would do everything for her family. She also told Manny that she will always be by his side “no matter what.”
Jinkee, Manny and their children are now in General Santos City. Ranillo, on the other hand, is set to be back in Manila any day this week to fulfill her commitments here.
Ranillo, one of the lead stars of ABS-CBN's "Tonyong Bayawak," is reportedly scheduled to do sexy pictorials for a calendar of a liquor brand and various magazines.
Television host Boy Abunda has branded the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as “stupid” after the latter turned down the accreditation of “Ang Ladlad” due to "moral grounds."
"Ang Ladlad" is an organization of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender (LGBT).
Reports said Comelec rejected “Ang Ladlad” for party-list accreditation on the grounds that it advocates "sexual immorality" and "immoral doctrines."
Abunda did not take this statement sitting down. Abunda lambasted the poll body for reportedly calling the group a “source of immorality.”
He said in his show "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon:" "'Yong sinabi ng Comelec na ‘Ang Ladlad’ is parang the source of immorality, sabi ni Mayor [Rodrigo] Duterte (of Davao City) ngayong araw (Tuesday) sa mga front page, it is bigotry of the highest order. Para sa akin, 'yan ay isang katangahan." "Para sa akin, isang malinaw talaga na walang pang-unawa na tama [ang Comelec]. And you are a government agency, 'yon lamang," Abunda added.
Abunda’s co-host and close friend Kris Aquino also defended her gay friend.
“You are mean. And the gay people naman are taxpayers. So, what's the problem?" Aquino said.
On November 11, the Comelec said although the party presented proper documents and evidence for their accreditation, its petition was "dismissable on moral grounds."
Page 5 of its ruling states that “Ang Ladlad's” definition of the LGBT as a marginalized sector "makes it crystal clear that the petitioner tolerates immorality which offends religious beliefs."
The document quotes passages from both the Bible and the Koran that describe homosexuality as "unseemly" or "transgressive."
The Comelec also went on to state that accrediting “Ang Ladlad” would pose risks for Filipino youths.
"Ang Ladlad" also applied for party-list accreditation in 2007, but was denied due to the lack of regional membership in the Philippines.
In a previous phone interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com/Newsbreak, “Ang Ladlad,” through its head Danton Remoto, said the group would contest the Comelec ruling before the Supreme Court.
Remoto, who taught literature at the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Manila University for over 20 years, criticized the Comelec's allegation that older homosexuals are threats to the youth.
He also took issue against the Comelec ruling's frequent citation of Internet-sourced reports, saying that a legal document should at least use primary sourcing. Remoto said this spoke of "intellectual bankruptcy" among Comelec officials.
Remoto said the Comelec ruling is offensive to the LGBT community and an insult to their human rights.
The camp of Krista Ranillo thanked world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao for being "a true gentleman" by denying the alleged affair with the young sexy actress.
"I'm glad that Manny took the initiative in issuing an apology to the Ranillo family, who has been suffering from anguish because of all the unfounded rumors linking him to Krista,” said the actress’s talent manager, Arnold Vegafria, in a statement.
Vegafria said he hopes Pacquiao’s denial on the reported illicit affair will finally put the issue to rest.
“For what he just did, I commend Manny for being not just a legendary boxing hero, but a true gentleman even outside the ring," he said.
On Monday Pacquiao, who previously refused to address the issue, flatly denied the alleged affair between him and Ranillo.
He maintained that the actress, who is part of his upcoming film, "Wapakman," is just a close friend.
The pound-for-pound king also apologized to the entire Ranillo family.
"Pasensiya na at hindi ko naman ginusto na masira 'yong pamilya niyo. Dumating lang talaga 'yong pagkakataon na sinakyan ng [publiko] at nagkaroon ng isyu," Pacquiao said in his interview with another television network.
In her first interview since the controversy broke out, Pacquiao's wife, Jinkee, also did not deny that the rumor has caused friction between her and her husband.
However, she remained optimistic that she and Manny could hurdle what she considered the biggest problem in their marriage so far.
"Hindi naman tayo binibigyan ng problema ng Diyos kung hindi natin kaya. I'm sure maaayos din ito with the help of the Lord,” she said.
Krista has been at the center of the controversy ever since she admitted that she saw Pacquiao in Hong Kong in a chance encounter. Since then, photos and video of them together have been uploaded and circulated in the Internet.
The country's 3 nominees at the 37th International Emmy Awards were unsuccessful in their bid to bring home the prizes during the gala event at Hilton New York Hotel Monday night (US time).
Actress Angel Locsin, who was nominated for her performance as a she-wolf in ABS-CBN teleserye "Lobo," failed to grab the best actress award.
In a phone interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Locsin’s talent manager Becky Aguila, who was with the actress during the awards night in New York, said the Filipino actress lost to Julie Walters (A Short Stay in Switzerland, BBC, United Kingdom).
Two other nominees from the Philippines - ABS-CBN's "Kahit Isang Saglit" (A Time For Us) and GMA Network’s “Magdusa Ka” – were also unsuccessful. The two television series have been nominated under the telenovela category. The prize was given to Brazil’s “India-A Love Story.”
Even though Locsin did not win the prize, Aguila said “it was a very nice, wonderful and memorable experience for her.”
Aguila added that her ward was very proud to represent the Philippines in the prestigious competition. Crowd favorite
Locsin is the second Filipina to be nominated under the best actress category in the competition. In 1989, Tessie Tomas was nominated for her role as former first lady Imelda Marcos in “A Dangerous Life.”
Aguila shared that Locsin was one of the crowd favorites in the red carpet. She was also the youngest nominee, according to the talent manager.
“She really stands out dahil ang ganda ng long gown niya. Everyone is staring at her. Everybody is staring at her gown,” Aguila added.
The actress’ gown was designed by Michael Cinco and is said to be worth P1 million, Aguila said. The gown weighs almost 6 kilos, with a lot of beads and Swarovski crystals.
Prior to the awards night, Locsin told ABS-CBN North America News Bureau that she was not expecting anything. She said she was happy just to be recognized by an international award giving body.
“Para sa akin hindi nagtatapos yan dito. Bilang artista, isang chapter pa lang ito. After nito move on ka, mag-research ka ulit sa bago mong character. Pero siyempre nakatulong ito para ma-inspire ka pa,” she added.
Gala event
According to the Web site of International Emmy Awards, the winners came from 6 countries across Europe, Asia and South America.
Nominees from the United Kingdom won in 5 out of 10 categories. This year, Brazil made history by taking home their first ever International Emmy Award for telenovela “India-A Love Story.”
A thousand international entertainment professionals and media executives attended the gala event, which was hosted by UK television star Graham Norton.
Presenters included Ed Westwick, Edie Falco, Alexa Chung, Moby, Katharine McPhee, Rachel Roy, Stephanie March, Keke Palmer, Matt Bomer, Matthew Rhys, Paul Schulze, Paula Zahn, Barbara Walters and Henry Kissinger.
“We congratulate tonight’s winners for their outstanding achievements. All the nominated programs and performances are a true inspiration for all of us in the industry and for audiences worldwide,” said academy president and chief executive officer Bruce Paisner.
Sir David Frost was also presented with the 2009 International Emmy Founders Award by legendary journalist Barbara Walters. Frost is one of the preeminent television figures of the 20th century, producing and hosting shows for more than 40 years.
"I'm just as excited. Noong unang in-offer sa akin ito, nabigyan na ako ng background tungkol sa kung ano ang istorya at kung ano ang role ko," related Ms.Susan. "It's a very heartwarming story—it's about family and the importance of memories together with the family. This is a very timely Christmas offering. I feel very honored. Karangalan ko na makasali sa first ChristmasSerye ng GMA-7. December 7 na siya."
At nang maibanggit namin na maraming fans ang excited na mapanood muli siya sa Kapuso network, sinuklian niya ito with her own excitement: "...para sa kanila at para din sa akin."
A family reunion
Tuwing sasapit ang kanyang [death] anniversary—that is December 14—ay dinadalaw namin siya," she explains.

ABS-CBN television series “Super Inggo” was a phenomenal success when it premiered in 2006, prompting the Kapamilya network to bring it back on TV.
This time though as an animated series called “Super Inggo at Super Tropa.”
The show is a collaborative project between ABS-CBN TV Production and ABS-CBN Animation Department led by Guia Jose.
Jose was part of the creative team of Optifex International, which worked on animation projects like “The Flinstones,” “The Jetsons,” and “Yogi's Treasure Hunt.”
She trained at the Hanna-Barbera Studios in Burbank in 1987 and Tokyo Movie Shinsha in Tokyo in 1985 and 1986. The animation team of 100—animators, writers, and staff— worked on one episode for about 18 weeks.
Business Unit Head Enrico Santos has high hopes that the animated series will be as well-loved as its predecessor.
"Everything that the public loved in Super Inggo—the drama, adventure, fun—will still be here, but in a new, more dynamic environment," Santos said.
“Super Inggo at ang Super Tropa” will premiere on November 22.
