Rica Paras leaves PBB house without tears and fears
Viewers of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Double Up evicted housemate Rica Paras from the show, the first housemate to bid farewell to the hit reality program this year.
Rica garnered the lowest total save and evict votes (10.37%), with viewers saving Sam Pinto (15.16%), Johan Santos (13.47%), and Paul Jake Castillo (12.55%).
Rica, a transgender, told the other housemates not to shed tears as she left them and Big Brother behind.
Hailed as the math goddess of Bacolod, it was no secret that Rica is intelligent and has an open mind.
This was why Big Brother had delegated a difficult task to her and now evicted housemate Rob Stumvoll. Kuya told them to pretend to be a couple as they entered his house.
This clearly caused a stir inside the house as some housemates felt uncomfortable with the supposed relationship.
Being different
Rica's gender preference has long been a struggle in her life. Brought up in a conventional family, her father could not accept that his son wanted to become a woman.
And this was how Rica spent her childhood and adolescent years - shunned for being different.
Being inside PBB house not only helped Rica express her true self and feelings, but it also taught her to stand by her beliefs.
The housemates also made her feel completely accepted and loved.
Acceptance
Big Brother also played a special part in the most awaited and important reunion Rica had ever experienced.
He sent Rica's father into the house so he and Rica could talk about and settle their differences. Luckily, Rica's father wholeheartedly accepted her for who she is and even told her that he was very proud of how she turned out.
This was what she highlighted in her farewell: “During my stay inside the house, I saw my father and reconciled with him.”
She said she wished she stayed inside PBB house longer to show the public that transgenders are not different from them. She also wished for people to have the strength to fight for their loved ones who are seen and treated differently. Source: abs-cbnnews.com
