RP's Unexpected Entry For Oscar
The Soxie Topacio’s film "Ded na si Lolo" is the Philippines' entry to the 82nd Academy Awards’ best foreign language film category next year.
The "dramedy" film bested 12 movies to represents the country to the Oscars which include award-winning "Baler,” “Jay,” "100," "Manila,” and "Adela."
"Ded na si Lolo" revolves around a child whose grandfather dies, but his family's superstitions get in the way of their mourning. It stars Elizabeth Oropesa, Gina Alajar, Roderick Paulate, Manilyn Reynes, Dick Israel and BJ Forbes. The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be presented on March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
