Claudine Barretto chides ex-bf Mark Anthony

Source: gmanews.tv

Charice to guest in 'Singapore Idol'

Source: Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnnews.com

International singing sensation Charice shared that she is leaving the country before the year end to guest in a popular talent show in Singapore.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Charice said she will be taping for "Singapore Idol" on December 27 and will be flying back to Los Angeles on December 29.

"Yes tuloy po na dito ako magki-Christmas. Pero pupunta po ako sa Singapore para mag-guest sa 'Singapore Idol'," Charice shared.

(Yes, it will push through--I will have Christmas here in the Philippines. But I will go to Singapore to guest on "Singapore Idol.")

Charice is set to return to the US to prepare for the launch of her debut international album. Reports said she will be launching her first global CD on the Oprah Winfrey Show in January.

Charice also told the news site that her mother, Racquel Pempengco, will accompany her to the States. Charice's brother Carl might also tag along.

She said she is happy that she will be able to celebrate Christmas in her own country, but that she is equally happy to spend the New Year abroad.

Oprah award

Just this week, Charice added another feather to her cap after she edged out global singing superstars like Whitney Houston, James Taylor, Michael Bublé, Journey and the Black Eyed Peas in an online poll by the Oprah Winfrey show.

Charice was chosen as the winner of the “Best Oprah Show Musical Performance" award, receiving 70% of total votes for her “Note to God” performance.

“Note to God” is her debut international single which she launched on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” last May 18.

The song, written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster, peaked at No. 35 in the Canadian Hot 100 and No. 44 in the US Billboard Hot 100.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Charice said that she did not expect to win.

"Hindi ko po ini-expect 'yon. Sobrang malulupit ang nominated. Like sila Michael Bublé, Whitney, kasama si Kuya Arnel Pineda (Journey) at Black Eyed Peas. Hindi ko ini-expect na maka-third place ako kasi ang hirap, ang bigat ng mga nominees. Nagulat ako na 70%, so nag-super thanks ako sa mga nag-vote," Charice said.

Charice said she owes the honor to all her loyal supporters, in particular, the Chasters (a name for her fans), who recruited people to participate in the poll so Charice would win.

"Sa tingin ko po, kapangyarihan ng mga Chasters at mga new Chasters. 'Yong ibang mga tao (kasi) na nahikayat ng Chasters. Chasters are the best fans in the world. Talagang kumakalat ang word, talagang iba ang suporta," she said.

“Note to God” is her debut international single which she launched on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on May 18. The song, written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster, peaked at No. 35 in the Canadian Hot 100 and No. 44 in the US Billboard Hot 100.

PBB Double Up in hot water again?

Source: abs-cbnnews.com

Is ABS-CBN’s “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Double Up” in hot water again?

This after Beverly Longid, president of the Katribu party-list, an indigenous peoples sectoral party, protested the “improper and inappropriate use of the bahag (g-string)” in PBB’s Monday episode.

Longid said one of the housemates “wrongly” wrapped around his waist an Igorot g-string in his task.

Longid was referring to Steve “Tibo” Jumalon who was made to wear a bahag in an effort to teach him the value of simplicity.

But there is a proper and appropriate way of wearing the garment, maintained Longid.

“While we understand that the intent of its use is to promote certain moral values, we believe it diminished the cultural symbolism and importance of the indigenous garb,” she said.

Bahag is traditionally worn by Igorot men of Cordillera and other indigenous peoples such as the Aetas, Dumagats and Mangyans.

“Any inappropriate use of our culture not only offends our sensitivities but also demeans the integrity of our customs and traditions, which we passionately defend together with our rights to ancestral land and self-determination,” she added.

She called on the PBB producers to “correct the improper use of the bahag.”

“We can extend assistance in demonstrating the proper way of wearing it and in educating the public regarding its appropriate use, not to mention the importance of upholding the integrity of indigenous culture,” she said.

Months ago, the Philippine Nurses Association Inc. (PNA) cried foul after housemate Catherine “Cathy” Remperas wore a nurse uniform as her costume. The group reportedly said that it allegedly tarnished the good image of a professional nurse. Cathy is a nursing graduate.

The producers of the show later apologized to the PNA.

As what said in the Oprah.com,"A whopping 70 percent of you voted for the 17-year-old singing sensation's performance of her first single, "Note to God." The Black Eyed Peas kickoff party performance came in second with only 9 percent of the vote. Charice had a big year in 2009, recording her first album, performing on tour with David Foster & Friends and appearing in her first film, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel."

iGMA: Raymond Gutierrez talks about StarStruck V

Source: Jason John S. Lim, gmanews.tv

After three seasons as a host of 'StarStruck,' it can be argued that Raymond Gutierrez has learned a lot sa competition na ito. And that's why we ask him what this season's contenders should do to make it big sa larangan ng showbiz.

Start pa lang ng season na ito, Raymond already promised that StarStruck V will be bigger than its predecessors.

"I'm very, very excited," pahayag ni Raymond nang interview noon. Dahil bukod sa mga bagong twists na darating from the show, Raymond is also reuniting with his StarStruck family. "I've been with them for how many seasons already, they're like a family to me." And, he tells us, it's also his first time na makatrabaho si Carla Abellana.

What else is Raymond excited about? Seeing how this season's contestants handle the pressures of being a star, being a celebrity, "and of course, the challenges that go along with it."

Sabi nga nila, every season of StarStruck is different. Hindi lang dahil may mga bagong twists na aabangan lagi, but also because ibang-iba lagi ang personalities ng mga nakakasama sa competition. "So exciting [din] how it's gonna be different creatively."

Isa sa mga bagong addition sa season na ito, compared to the seasons Raymond has been part of, is the mentorship program. Five experts with their own fields of expertise are coming together to give the finalists a top-notch education in singing, dancing, acting, grooming and image development.

Kaya naman nasabi ni Raymond na, "if I was a contestant, I would maximize the fact that I have these mentors around me. I'll ask as many questions as I can, and really try to absorb their advice, really try to listen. Kasi sila talaga 'yung nakaaalam sa bawat aspeto ng industriyang ito."

At dahil nga ito ang gagawin niya if he were in the contestants' place, ito rin ang advice niya sa mga remaining survivors ng StarStruck V—to ask. "Whether it's with acting, or with style, or with singing—anything that would hone their skills, to make sure they stand out."

"Kasi, at the end of the day, I'm sure they want to stand out." Raymond says that if these contestants really want to impress the judges, they should maximize the fact na mayroong silang mentors.

We asked him, kung siya ba ang papipiliin, ano ang gusto niyang makita sa future star na mahuhulma ng StarStruck V? Raymond said that the overall package is important sa competition, that the winner should not just have talent, but also wit. "Someone that can carry themselves in any situation, someone na kayang i-express 'yung sarili nila—‘yun 'yung hinahanap ko."

"And also dedication, determination, 'yung pagiging strong-willed. Importante ‘yun in becoming a star," he added.

Do our survivors have what it take to make it big, sa batayan ni Raymond? We'll find out as the competition continues on StarStruck V.

Catch Raymond hosting StarStruck V every Saturday, pagkatapos ng Pinoy Records, where he breaks down everything that has happened for the week.

You can also catch shorter updates from Mondays to Fridays sa StarStruck ShoutOut bago mag-Family Feud. And, of course, ang elimination nights ay live na live every Sunday night sa Studio V, pagkatapos ng Kap's Amazing Stories, with Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana.

Coco Martin not a sell-out, says Brillante Mendoza

Source: abs-cbnnews.com
Award-winning director Brillante Mendoza belied reports that he has ill-feelings against actor Coco Martin for allegedly turning his back on doing independent films.

In an interview, Mendoza said he is happy for Martin's success as a bankable mainstream actor.

"Masaya ako kasi kahit noong wala pa siya sa mainstream eh ang feeling ko mayroon na siyang na-achieve. (I'm happy because even when he wasn't mainstream, I felt he had already achieved something)," Mendoza told "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon."

The director's statement also rooted from reports that Martin had "forgotten" the indie industry because his hectic schedule as an in-demand actor for ABS-CBN inhibits him from making non-mainstream films.

The Cannes award-winning director had worked with Martin on various indie films. But it was the film "Masahista", directed by Mendoza, that gave Martin a big break.

'Never forget indie'

Proving that there were no ill feelings between him and his mentor, Coco Martin received his Anak TV Male Makabata Star award on Tuesday (December 8) and thanked Brillante Mendoza for helping him.

"Nagpapasalamat po ako ng marami sa ABS-CBN at gusto kong magpasalamat sa mentor ko at idol ko na si Mr. Brillante Mendoza. (I thank ABS-CBN and I also thank my idol and mento, Mr. Brillante Mendoza)," Martin said during his acceptance speech.

In a separate interview, Martin also shot down speculations that he was leaving the indie film community for good.

"Ang indie ay hinding hindi ko makakalimutan 'yan at saka kay Direk Dante kasi siya ang naghubog sa akin at isa siya sa dahilan kung bakit ako nandito ngayon," Martin said.

(I will never forget indie films. And Director Dante--short for Brillante--he was the one who shaped me as an actor and he is one of the reasons why I am where I am today.)

Currently, Martin is part of ABS-CBN's "Nagsimula sa Puso" with lead star Maja Salvador.

Martin rose to mainstream fame when he played the character of Ramon in the defunct hit television series "Tayong Dalawa."

After the Rain: GMA's tribute to the victims of typhoons

Source: Loretta G. Ramirez, gmanews.tv

Ipapalabas sa December 13 sa Sunday Night Box-Office (SNBO) ang GMA Christmas special entitled, “After the Rain: A Hopeful Christmas with Regine." The musical-documentary concert gives tribute to the Filipino spirit that has remained resilient despite the onslaught of typhoons which tremendously affected the lives of many of our kababayans.

"Maganda 'yung concept ng show kasi 'yung audience noong concert, 'yung mga victims ng typhoon," Asia's Songbird, said Ms. Regine Velasquez to iGMA.

After the Rain, is a two-hour musical-documentary featuring three heartwarming and inspiring ‘Ondoy’ stories. The concert was attended by 800 victims from the typhoon-devastated cities and provinces such as Rizal, Laguna, Pasig, Marikina and Pangasinan. Sinundo sila from evacuation centers and transported to GMA Network's Studio 7 for a special dinner party before the show.

"They picked three stories, and then each story iso-showcase nila 'yun [through a video presentation] and then there is a song pertaining to that story. Ganun siya all throughout," kuwento ni Regine about the concept of the event.

GMA Network's award-winning primetime news anchors Mel Tianco and Mike Enriquez, together with Kapuso prime time royalties Richard Gutierrez, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, will share inspiring words and feelings of admiration for the typhoon victims’ courage and resilience amidst the disasters.

The country's top singers, led by Regine, performed on stage while stories about losing loved ones, of unsung heroes, and tales of survival, hope, happy endings, and gratitude unfold. Others who gave heartwarming performances were Jaya, Kuh Ledesma, Pops Fernandez, JayR, Kyla and La Diva plus the UP Concert Chorus.

"They appreciated naman the show and 'yung gesture din ng GMA to make them think na ‘Okay lang 'yan, kaya ninyo 'yan.’ Gusto natin pataasin kahit papaano ang morale nila kasi obviously hindi naman natin sila matutulungan forever and eventually they need to move forward. Siyempre they need to pick up the pieces. In the meantime eto tayo, try nating magpasaya," said Regine.

At the end of the show, the audience received their special Christmas presents with the help of some sponsors and the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Sa pagtatapos ng exclusive interview ng iGMA kay Ms. Regine, she left a special message to the victims of “Ondoy" and “Pepeng."

"I hope that the show will be able to help you move on. To pick up the pieces kasi wala naman na tayong choice eh. Eto na 'yun, so isipin na lang natin na merong reason kung bakit nandidito pa rin tayo. Kasi siyempre maraming nawalan--hindi lang ng mga bagay, pati ng mahal sa buhay. Isipin na lang natin na God always has a reason. Sana makaahon tayo sa matinding tragedy na ito," pag-asam niya.

Don’t miss the telecast of this special musical-documentary concert filled with hope and love. After The Rain: A Hopeful Christmas with Regine will air this Sunday, December 13 on GMA-7's SNBO.

Piolo Pascual to play Ninoy Aquino in 'MMK'

Source: Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnnews.com
It’s confirmed. Piolo Pascual is portraying slain former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., but not in a film.

ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)” is set to feature Ninoy’s life story and it tapped Pascual to play the coveted role. Pascual made this confirmation during the launching of his 6th album called "Decades."

The actor disclosed that the taping will start next week. And as part of his preparation, the "Lovers in Paris" star shared that he is now doing his own research about the man whose death triggered the 1986 bloodless revolution in EDSA.

He also disclosed that he will sit down with television host-actress Kris Aquino, Ninoy’s youngest daughter, for some advice.

"Nakaka-pressure din. Ang laki ng expectations. 'Yong mga tao, hindi pa lumalabas, may judgment na hindi mo kamukha [or] you are not eloquent as he was. And then sasabihin sa’yo na wala kang karapatan. Ako, I'll just come up with something na version ko," he said.

Aside from accepting the MMK episode, Pascual is also willing to portray Ninoy in the big screen. The actor was quick to clarify, however, that no offers have been made so far.

Pascual is the personal choice of Aquino’s daughters - Ballsy, Pinky, Viel and Kris - to play the role of their dad in the upcoming film about the life of the late senator’s wife, former president Corazon Aquino.

When asked about his other co-stars, meanwhile, Pascual declined to divulge any detail. "Hindi ko pa pwedeng sabihin. Ako pa lang ang confirmed."

iGMA: Dennis Trillo becomes a reluctant dad this Christmas

Source: gmanews.tv

Masasaksihan ngayong December 10 ang isang nakatutuwa at inspiring story ng two different characters, which will be made interesting when fate plays a trick on them.

Ang Exchange Gift ay istorya tungkol sa karakter nila Francis na si EJ at ang kanyang ninong Miguel, played by Dennis, who find themselves forced to keep up with their opposite personalities as EJ's father dies unexpectedly.

Dahil dito, fate intervenes and they both find themselves sa isang sitwasyon where their bodies were switched upang bigyan sila ng leksiyon.

And for Dennis, he finds this role quite refreshing dahil being a child once more would take him back to his 'kulitan' days.

"Medyo may pagka-naughty at makulit talaga [ako] nun.

Para naman sa comic aspect ng role niya, Dennis told us that his present and previous projects have sufficiently prepared him to do this role.

iGMA: LJ Reyes says she’s ready to go sexy

Source: Jason John S. Lim, gmanews.tv

LJ Reyes is FHM's December cover girl, as you might have already noticed sa mga FHM Magazines na makikita in bookstands nationwide. Pero what does this mean para sa career ni LJ?

"I was ready to do it." Ito ang matapang na mga tugon ni LJ when we talked to her after the launching ng kanyang magazine cover sa SOP Fully Charged last Sunday (December 6).

What made LJ decide to finally do pose for the magazine is the simple fact na nagustuhan niya ang peg na pinakita sa kaniya. "'Yung isang condition ko kasi sa kanila is for it to look classy, ‘wag 'yung medyo bastusin. So, sabi ko, as long as ma-satisfy 'yung lahat ng conditions, go!"

And, as they say, the rest is history.

"The first time na sinabi ko sa kanila, siyempre medyo nagulat," LJ admitted. She said at first her mom didn't approve of the idea. But LJ presented the peg to her family, and nagkausap naman sila ng mabuti about it. "And the peg is not bastos naman, so umokay na rin [sila]."

Now that LJ is an FHM cover girl, hindi naman daw ibig sabihin that she'll completely go the sexy star route.

"Depende pa rin." LJ said her FHM shoot had limitations pa rin naman. "Yes, I did show some more skin, pero it doesn't mean naman na papayag na ako na 'yung roles ko or 'yung costume or whatever ay maging bastusin 'yung dating ko."

But there is one thing that LJ wants to try to do, something she's suggesting sa staff ng SOP Fully Charged para sa One Time Only segment. Biro namin, kaya ba niya talagang gawin 'yung isina-suggest niya. Her reply? "Art yun! [And] basta kasama si Ryza [Cenon], si Chynna [Ortaleza] sure akong sasama ‘yan e."

FHM's December issue is already available where magazines are sold. LJ will also have a radio tour on December 9, mula hapon hanggang Boys Night Out. And on December 11, she will be at Robinsons Galleria at around 4 in the afternoon para sa autograph signing.

"Mga Kapuso, please buy FHM December issue; ako po 'yung cover. Matutuwa naman po kayo sa pictures, promise. And 'yung article po, maaaliw lang kayo sa akin. Promise, matatawa talaga kayo sa akin. Parang ako lang talaga ‘pag nagsasalita," LJ asked her followers.

Catch LJ every Sundays on SOP Fully Charged and weekdays sa StarStruck ShoutOut bago mag-Family Feud.

End Krista Ranillo rumors, appeals Pacquiao

Source: abs-cbnnews.com

Sixteen days before Christmas, pound-for-pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao has made this wish - for the public to end all rumors about his alleged illicit affair with young sexy star Krista Ranillo.

Manny reiterated that it is about time to stop all the intrigues, which he said were the result of “crab mentality.”

"Magpa-pasko na. Kung gusto niyong umunlad ang buhay n'yo, umayos ang buhay n'yo, iwasan niyo ang crab mentality,” he said in an interview during his star-studded victory party in Quezon City Tuesday night.

He added: "Kung gusto nila akong i-tsismis, i-tsismis niyo ako. Basta ako deadma lang. Sabi ko kayo din ang magsasawang mag-tsismis. Kung gusto niyo, pag-usapan niyo pa ako araw-araw. Sa akin lang, sana ay iwasan natin na makasira tayo ng buhay ng ibang buhay kasi kasalanan sa Diyos 'yon.”

The rumors broke out while Manny, his family and entourage were in Las Vegas, Nevada for his “Fire Power” showdown with Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.

Despite the denials from both camps, the rumors had apparently affected his wife, Jinkee, who burst into tears and was inconsolable while attending a thanksgiving Mass in Las Vegas following Manny’s historic win.

“Dapat maisip ng ibang tao kung nakakasira tayo ng pamilya. Malaking kasalanan 'yan na makasira ka ng isang pamilya," Manny said.

The couple had eventually ironed things out when they arrived in the country.

During his victory party in QC, the Filipino boxing icon assured that everything is fine between him and his wife. He also thanked Jinkee for loving and trusting him.

He said he and his wife were able to hurdle the controversy through the “help of prayers.” He said they will surpass future intrigues also through prayers.

"Alam namin namin na ang kasamaan ay hindi nagtatagumpay sa kabutihan," he said.

Like Jinkee, Pacman also vowed to fight for his family.

Meanwhile, Manny and Ranillo, stars of upcoming movie “Wapakman,” have resumed shooting their film. Tight security was imposed in the set of the film in order to keep the media and crowd at bay.

Manny plays the lead star while Ranillo is the villainess in the film.

Ranillo has slipped quietly back into the country, but she continues to elude the entertainment press.

Victory party

On Tuesday night, Manny threw a victory party that was attended by big names in the entertainment industry.

Among those spotted in the event were Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto, Miriam Quiambao, Pops Fernandez, Daisy Romualdez, Pilita Corales, Gloria Romero, Celia Rodriguez and showbiz couples Robert Arevalo and Barbara Perez and Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama.

Bubbles Paraiso, Carla Humphries, Michelle Madrigal, Christian Bautista, and Nonoy Zuniga also showed up in the party.

Quinto, Manny’s leading lady in “Wapakman," and the famous boxer performed "Sometimes When We Touch." Fernandez, on the other hand, sang "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?" with Manny.

Presidential candidate Sen. Manuel Villar and Environment Secretary Lito Atienza also graced the event.

Manny’s next big fight will be with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on March 13, 2010.

A Filipino has placed 3rd place in Poland’s “Mam Talent!,” the country’s version of “Britain’s Got Talent.”

Alexander Martinez landed 3rd during the finale of “Mam Talent,” which was on its 2nd season. Accordionist Martin VIC and brothers Marcel and Nicodemus Legun were first and second placers, respectively.

The finale was aired over the weekend.

Reports said the show’s 3 judges were blown away by Martinez’s version of Europe's "The Final Countdown."

As part of his prize, Martinez reportedly got a free plane ticket to the Philippines to fulfill his long-time dream to meet his family here.

Moved by the announcement, the Filipino reportedly said he already felt like a big winner in the competition.

PBB Update: 1 house, 14 housemates, no Yuri

Source: Stephanie Manhit, abs-cbnnews.com

Ten of the housemates were able to breathe easy Saturday night.

The merge of houses already began, with each housemate who was announced safe entering House A. It was home sweet home for Catherine "Cathy" Remperas, Johan Morielle Santos, Paul Jake Castillo, Steve "Tibo" Jumalon, and Jason Veron Francisco.

Original House B’s Alvin Kirby "Rocky" Salumbides, Marielle Sorino, Patrick Villanueva, Samuelle "Sam" Pinto, and Kathleen "Kath" Lopena-Ortega happily moved in soon after.

They could not help but exhale audibly, a look of relief taking the place of their earlier apprehension. Kath was at a loss for words, repeatedly expressing her gratitude for another chance. They started bonding right away and gathered to share stories.

With the threat of eviction out of the way, Bagyong Issa turned out to be something they would look forward to. The boys were particularly looking forward to facing challenges as one team, without worrying about competing with another house. From now on, it seemed, there was an “all for one, one for all” battle cry.

The 5 remaining housemates were Melisa "Melai" Cantiveros, Hermes Eugene Bautista, Rica Paras, Carolyn "Carol" Lim Batay, and Yuri Okawa.

They spent the night together in House B, all carrying the burden that it could be their last night as housemates. Despite the tension, Melai was still able to stay upbeat, asking if the others would rather hold a vigil since they would find difficulty sleeping anyway.

All agreed to make the most out of their last night, since it would surely be the end for one of them. As soon as they entered the house, they gathered in prayer, united in their need for strength and their gratitude for making it this far.

Hermes, the only guy in the group, stayed with the others the entire night. Yuri took the time to sing Jason’s praises to Melai. Both Rica and Melai were surprised as Yuri shared how appreciative and helpful Jason was around the house, characteristics that were far from the Jason they knew.

Before Melai could turn green from jealousy, Yuri assured her that Jason did miss her, and that she was probably the reason he has changed his ways.

Before the announcements, each was asked if there were things that they regretted doing. All had few, if any, regrets. Melai’s only regret was that she was not able to use the pool much while Carol believed that she was just being true to herself, and that was not something to be ashamed of.

Rica shared the same sentiments, though admitted to being too comfortable and loose with her language. Hermes and Yuri both had no regrets, though they asked forgiveness if they had hurt anyone.

Try as they would to distract themselves, putting aside the fear of the coming eviction was next to impossible. All of them expressed fear of being evicted, now more than ever before. A regular eviction would have been difficult, but to be kicked out by people’s choice left one with a feeling of loss and being unwanted.

The first two housemates who joined the group in House A were Rica and Carol. Melai followed suit, leaving only Hermes and Yuri on the edge of their seats.

Finally, the announcement came, saving Hermes and ending Yuri’s days in the house.

Hermes was quite reluctant to leave Yuri, finding little victory if it was at the expense of another. It took Kuya’s prodding and Yuri’s assurance to get him out of the room.

Kuya then spoke with Yuri, commending her on having the courage to stay true to herself and her beliefs. As a last boon, he also allows her to say her final goodbye to her housemates.

A few moments after, Yuri was ushered into the outside world by host Mariel Rodriguez and welcomed by her mom and her supporters. Yuri rushed into her mom’s arms in tears, though she could not help but smile at the people cheering her on.

In her speech, she said: “Sometimes hindi lahat ng nakikita niyo sa TV is true. Sometimes entertainment isn’t really entertaining, pero pinakita ko naman kung ano talaga ako. And I’m not that bad. Sometimes I’m just misunderstood. So I hope you guys will get to know me better.”

Take note that the names were given out in random order. The percentage of votes were as follows: Yuri (26.52%), Mariel (22.9 %), Carol (17.25%), Hermes (9.80%), and Rocky (7.01%) are the top 5. Sam (4.67%), Patrick (3.90%), Rica (1.0%), Cathy (1.58%), and Kath (1.53%) follow, with the last three in close competition.

The bottom 5 – who actually are the ones who people did not think of evicting – were Melai (1.08%), Tibo (0.74%), Jason (0.60%), Paul Jake (0.46%), and Johan (0.32%).

Facebook shout-out on Krista Ranillo still hounds Gina Alajar

Source: Lhar Santiago, gmanews.tv

It might not be in the count, it might be on another venue ‘di ba," pahayag pa niya.

Swift talks Grammy joy; Beyonce top nominee

Source: Associated Press

Taylor Swift has won just about every top music award there is this year, but the possibility of winning not just one, but eight Grammys, had the 19-year-old screaming for joy as the nominations were announced.

"I started freaking out and jumping up and down," Swift said in a telephone interview Wednesday night after learning of her nominations, which included album of the year for her sophomore CD "Fearless" and mentions for song and record of the year.

"I honestly never would have predicted this, eight nominations — I'm ecstatic, and blown away and so so thankful," the stunned country sensation said.

Swift's haul of eight nods was only second to another blonde superstar — Beyonce, who got 10. The multi-hyphenate diva, who had an amazing year even on Beyonce terms, including performing at the inauguration for President Barack Obama and the first lady and a No. 1 movie with "Obsessed," was rewarded for her fierce year. The Grammy-winner was nominated once again, this time for album of the year for her double CD, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," song of the year for her ubiquitous anthem, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" and song of the year for "Halo," as well as other awards.

Another diva was also nominated in all three categories: Lady Gaga. The eccentric entertainer, who had five nominations overall, garnered a best album mention for her debut CD, "The Fame," while her "Poker Face" got nominations for record and song of the year. Other nominees for album of the year were the Black Eyed Peas for "The E.N.D." and Dave Matthews Band's "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King."

The Black Eyed Peas were also nominated for record of the year for their feel-good song, "I Gotta Feeling," while the Kings of Leon were nominated for "Use Somebody." The Kings of Leon hit was also nominated for song of the year, as well as Maxwell's comeback hit, "Pretty Wings."

The Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and Kanye West got six nominations each, while Jay-Z and DJ David Guetta got five.

The country act the Zac Brown Band was nominated for best new artist, along with R&B siren Keri Hilson, rockers MGMT, the punk duo the Ting Tings and the rock group the Silversun Pickups. The year's most popular new artist, Lady Gaga, wasn't eligible; her single "Just Dance" had been nominated last year, before she was a platinum-selling act; previous Grammy nominees can't be nominated in the category.

Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said that scenario won't likely happen again: "There will be some changes so that particular situation won't repeat itself."

Wednesday's nominations were unveiled at Club Nokia in Los Angeles as part of a prime-time CBS special. It was the second year in a row that the Recording Academy revealed a handful of its 109 nominees during a televised concert; in the past, they had been announced during a morning news conference.

Swift, who turns 20 later this month, said she was holed up in a Los Angeles hotel room with her mother, editing home videos on her computer, when the nominations were being read. It was then she got a text from her producer, Nathan Chapman, that just read "AAUUGGH!!!!!"

Taylor didn't know what to make of it.

Then he called and told her about her first nomination, song of the year, for her hit, "You Belong With Me." And then the screams started, and continued when the nominations kept coming in.

Besides album and song of the year, she was also nominated for record of the year for "You Belong With Me" and country album.

"To be recognized by the Grammys is the ultimate honor, and all I know is that when I write about this in my journal tonight it will be in all capital letters and underlined four times, and there will be lots of exclamation points in this entry because I never imagined I'd get to write this kind of journal entry," she gushed.

Swift may be in shock, but her nominations are not a big surprise to many: She was the year's best-selling artist outside of Michael Jackson, and her "Fearless" CD, released late last year, has sold more than 4.5 million copies. She is not just a country superstar, but a pop one as well.

Just last month, Swift won five American Music Awards, including artist of the year. She's also won top honors at the Academy of Country Music Awards, the Country Music Association Awards and won an MTV Video Music Award (which was infamously snatched away by Kanye West).

But Swift, who has been nominated for a Grammy before, says winning one would be her dream triumph: "The thought of that absolutely is something that you daydream about."

Swift was in Los Angeles to do a concert and to do some work on her upcoming movie "Valentine's Day"; she had an early call on the set Thursday morning.

When asked how she planned to celebrate her nominations, she said: "I'm just gonna call a bunch of people and tell them that I love them."

The Grammys will be presented on Jan. 31 in Los Angeles.

John Lloyd signs 3-movie contract with Star Cinema

Source: abs-cbnnews.com

Box office King John Lloyd Cruz is signing up for three more movies under ABS-CBN's movie outfit Star Cinema.

In an interview, Cruz said he’s excited to shoot three new films after his successful movie project "In My Life" with Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos and actor-host Luis Manzano.

"Kakapirma ko lang po ulit with Star Cinema and I'm happy to tell everyone that for the next two years ay makikita niyo ako sa mga projects ng Star Cinema. Yon nga lang hindi naka-indicate yong mga gagawin kong projects, which I think is good kasi open yong options ko,” Cruz told reporters.

Present during the signing of contract were ABS-CBN’s executives Malou Santos and Johnny Manahan.

Cruz also reacted on reports saying that he will be doing a film with showbiz royalty KC Concepcion. In the interview, Cruz said that he is very much willing to do a project with the Megastar Sharon Cuneta's daughter.

"Very interesting, to work with KC in a movie, wow! It's something big so kung matutuloy man ay wow, I would be really happy," he said.

Currently, Cruz is busy shooting his film with his long-time screen partner Bea Alonzo. Alonzo and Cruz's last movie under Star Cinema was "One More Chance."

"Medyo matagal pa ito so since for post-Valentine naman siya so we have enough time to prepare," Cruz said.

The actor said that he is still hoping to do another movie with Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo who was his leading lady for the hit film "A Very Speacial Love" and its sequel.

"I'm still hoping na mangyayari siya kasi yong schedule niya and yong schedule ko especially 'yong first or second quarter ng 2010 puno na yata. Hindi ko pa nakikita yong movie (namin) sa calendar ko baka last quarter of 2010," Cruz said.

But for now, Cruz said that he is concentrating on doing his film with Alonzo.

At present, Cruz is a regular of ASAP '09 and is also set to do a television series for next year.

Muppets take the Web with 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

Source: Associated Press

Much like the Muppets took Manhattan, they have taken the Web.
Since debuting last week, the Muppet parody of the classic music video of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" has been viewed more than 8.6 million times on YouTube.

It's an exceptional hit for the first video posted on a new YouTube channel by the Muppets Studio, the Walt Disney Company subsidiary formed in 2004 after the Jim Henson Company sold the franchise.

A Twitter feed has also been launched. (It's mostly promotional; Kermit isn't blogging.) And a Facebook page has been started.

Muppets Studio general manager Lylle Breier said the online push for the Muppets was designed to help reboot the franchise and quickly get new content to fans.

"When the Muppets came into real popularity was the '70s. What was popular in the '70s? Variety shows — that's what `The Muppet Show' was," said Breier. "What's the Web? It's a giant variety show. That's why the Muppets fit so perfectly. Parody has always been at the heart of what the Muppets do."

Breier said the Muppets singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" had long been an idea on the back burner, but the project only recently came together.

In it, just about every famous Muppet character makes a cameo: Gonzo and his chickens appear in silhouette; Rowlf plays piano; Beaker supplies his normal "meep-meep-meep-meep"; Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem rock out.

Animal bangs on the drums and gets to channel Freddie Mercury, singing "Mama!" He repeats it instead of singing the full, child-unfriendly line "Mama just killed a man/ Put a gun against his head/ Pulled my trigger/ Now he's dead."

It's not the Muppets first foray into online video. Several videos were released last year, most notably including Beaker singing "Ode to Joy." More than 7 million have since watched Beaker's rendition.

Breier says more Web videos are on the way. A version of "Carol of the Bells" will be released for Christmas, and a handful of other videos will follow in 2010.

The purpose of the sudden Muppet expansion is partly promotional. The Muppets have also recently made appearances on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Last year's holiday special, "A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa" has recently been released on DVD and will air again Friday on NBC.

What is more important, a new, much-anticipated theatrical film is in the works. Jason Segel ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall") and his writing partner Nicholas Stoller have been writing a new Muppets film expected to return the franchise to its more acclaimed past.

"It's all part of a plan for new creative content with online, television, a new theatrical movie," said Breier. "We're bringing the Muppets back."

Krista in Manila?

Source: abs-cbnnews.com

Is controversial sexy actress Krista Ranillo, who has been romantically linked to new People's Champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, back in the country?

abs-cbnNEWS.com received information from a source that Krista, will appear in public together with her father, actor Matt Ranillo III, on Thursday.

The buzz is that father and daughter will grace the launching of their latest endorsement, Shimmian Manila Surgicenter.

The source said a press conference will be held at a restaurant in Tomas Morato, Quezon City on December 3 at 7 p.m ..

In an interview, Gigi Mendoza, PR head of Shimmian Manila Surgicenter, confirmed that they will be holding an event.

But when asked to confirm if Krista and Matt will grace the event, Mendoza replied: "Hindi na siguro darating sa event."

If she shows up, Krista is expected to be asked about reports linking her to the new World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion.

Krista and Pacquiao have been at the center of the controversy ever since she admitted that she saw Pacquiao in Hong Kong in a chance encounter. Since then, photos and video of them together have been uploaded and circulated in the Internet.

Both Krista's and Pacquiao's camp have denied the reports. Pacman even apologized to Ranillos family. He maintained that the actress, who is part of his upcoming film, "Wapakman," is just a close friend.

Last week, Ranillos divulged that their family is already getting death threats as a result of persistent rumors about Pacquiao and Krista.

No affair, says Matt

The Ranillos made this revelation in a statement sent to ABS-CBN News.

In the statement, signed by Matt, the family categorically denied any inappropriate relationship between Pacquiao and Krista.

They claimed that the death threats came from “some unknown individuals who are claiming that such inappropriate relationship exists.”

The family also appealed to the media “to exercise balance, fairness and accuracy in their reporting.”

The Ranillos said they have hired lawyer Tonisito Umali, a Philippine and California lawyer, to serve as their legal counsel and spokesman.

According to the statement, Umali is studying whether television shows, news programs and major newspapers violated the rights of the Ranillos in reporting the alleged illicit affair.

The lawyer is also studying the “derogatory and untruthful comments made by Ms Gina Alajar in her Facebook (and published in major newspapers and shown in major TV shows) and other media personalities to determine whether such comments are considered unprotected speech or libelous.”

As of posting time, abs-cbnNEWS.com was still trying to get confirmation of Krista's and Matt’s arrival from the US.

Is Jolina Magdangal returning to ABS-CBN?

So, paano mangyayari na doon iba-base.

Eula Valdez admits relationship with PBB housemate

Source: abs-cbnnews.com

Actress Eula Valdez is dating “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Double Up” housemate Alvin Kirby “Rocky” Salumbides.

Valdez, 41, admitted the relationship after Rocky confessed to his fellow housemates that “Amor Powers,” a famous character portrayed by the actress, is his girlfriend.

Valdez said she turned giddy after watching a PBB episode where Rocky, 29, proclaimed his love for her.

“Napanood ko rin noong tinanong siya, ‘Binata ka? Binata pero taken.’ Ang haba ng hair ko (laughs),” she said.

The two met when they shot a music video together, according to Valdez.

Meanwhile, the actress said she is hurting amid the criticisms being hurled against her boyfriend. Rocky, along with other 3 male PBB housemates, has been accused of discrimination after he poked fun at “Transgender Math Goddess” Rica Paras.

Conceding that Rocky made a mistake, she still called on the public to give him another chance.
