As per Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, announced the death of her mother, Mrs. Corazon Aquino, August 1, 2009.
The mother of democracy in the Philippines is gone. The former president Corazon Aquino died at the age of 76 in Makati Medical Center. Mrs. Aquino has been diagnosed with colon cancer early in 2008 and has been confined at the Makati Medical Center for more than a month.
Mrs. Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino was married to Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., a leading figure in the political opposition against the autocratic rule of President Ferdinand Marcos. After her husband was assassinated upon his return from exile in the United States on August 21, 1983, Aquino, who had no prior political experience, became a focal point and unifying force of the opposition against Marcos. She was drafted to run against Marcos in the 1986 snap presidential elections. After Marcos was proclaimed the winner despite widespread reports of electoral fraud, Aquino was installed as President by the peaceful 1986 People Power Revolution.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has signed and proclaimed the name of seven National Artists for 2009.
This year's list includes: Manuel Urbano, a.k.a. Manuel Conde - for film and broadcast (posthumous) Lazaro Francisco for literature (posthumous) Federico Aguilar Alcuaz - for visual arts, painting, sculpture and mixed media Cecilia Guidote-Alvarez - for theater Carlo J. The title is given to a Filipino who has been given the highest recognition for having made significant contributions to the development of Philippine arts, namely music, dance, theater, visual arts, literature, film, broadcast arts, fashion design and architecture, and allied art
The Backstreet Boys (without Kevin Richardson) will release their ninth album, which entitled "This Is Us," this October 6, 2009, and will have a series of world tour.
The Jive Records, 11-track album features new material that Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean collaborated on alongside with songwriters and producers like Max Martin, T-Pain, RedOne, Soulshock & Karlin, Jim Jonsin and Claude Kelly.
"We always try to set the bar as high as possible," Dorough told Billboard.com. "We've always been a pop/R&B group. We focus our songs around good melodies and group harmonies, and hopefully that will have a lot of staying power."
"We're really excited to release this new album and know that our fans are excited too," Carter said in a press release. "We worked with a group of amazing artists and producers that we've never worked with before, exploring new sounds and territory and know the final product turned out incredible."
The Backstreet Boys will be launches their world tour on September 27 in Singapore, then goes to Europe from October 30-December 6. North American dates for 2010 are expected to be announced soon.

At the memorial of Michael Jackson this coming Tuesday morning (July 7,2009), will take place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
