Shia Labeouf Injured And Arrested

The male teen actor Shia LaBeouf, a star of the movies "Transformers" and "Indiana Jones", was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after an auto accident in which he was injured early Sunday, a police official said on Sunday.

LaBeouf was driving a vehicle that collided with another vehicle in Hollywood, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Wolf said.

"He subsequently injured his head, knee and hand and was hospitalized," Wolf said.

Wolf said LaBeouf was booked for misdemeanor DUI (driving under the influence) and then released.

LaBeouf's passenger and the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, Wolf said, adding that he did not know their identities.

The accident occurred when LaBeouf made a left turn in front of the other vehicle, causing a collision in which his car rolled over, Wolf said.

The Dark Knight Continues Rolling

The Dark Knight continues to be a record breaking movie and hitting some unexpected record...

According to boxofficeguru.com, the estimated Friday figure projects to a $72-75m weekend, and combined with a very healthy mid-week gross, would put Dark Knight's total earnings around an unprecedented $310-$315 million after only ten days, which will not only set a number of box office records, but make it the highest grossing film this year.

To put the business The Dark Knight is doing in perspective, the film will take in $300 million in ten days. The soon-to-be-second quickest film to the $300m mark was 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which turned the trick in 16 days. And Dark Knight is doing all this without the benefit of a 4-day weekend and a relatively later summer release for a "blockbuster".

The list of records The Dark Knight has or will break is a mile long, but perhaps most noteworthy – 1.) the film will now undoubtedly and easily break the $400m barrier; 2.) it's not inconceivable it could reach $500 and/or become the second-biggest grosser ever behind Titanic; and 3.) even when adjusting ticket prices to account for inflation, Dark Knight should eventually out-earn Tim Burton's 1989 Batman, which at today's prices would have earned an approximate $420m.

Reviews: Journey Concert In Las Vegas

Source: omaha.com
Yes, he does.

That's the short answer to the question that every Journey fan wants to know: Does new lead singer Arnel Pineda really sound just like the band's former frontman, Steve Perry?

Ever since Perry made his final exit from the group a decade ago, the other members have tried and failed to find a suitable replacement. Judging by Pineda's spirited performance Tuesday night at a packed Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, they may have finally found their guy.

As soon as Pineda let loose with his first Perry-esque wail, it was obvious that his voice has both the power and nuance to deliver faithful versions of all those Journey anthems that dominated rock radio in the late 1970s and 1980s.

What remains to be seen is how well fans take to his hyper stage style, filled with leaps, spins and tosses of the mike. His bio says he's 40, but he looks and moves much younger.

Perhaps he's just happy to have this job. After all, a year ago he was performing in a cover band and making YouTube videos of his best Perry-style vocals. He was found one day during an Internet search by Journey's lead guitarist, Neal Schon.

Still, after a few songs filled with stage antics, it was a relief to see him calm down a bit and just deliver simple, heartfelt vocals on "After All These Years," one of several tracks from Journey's new CD "Revelation" featured in the concert's opening minutes.

Source: NewsOk.com
As Journey started its set at dusk, local fans got the chance to see if new front man Arnel Pineda could match the vocal prowess former vocalist Steve Perry. From the opening lines of “Only the Young,” the Filipino singer, whom the band discovered on YouTube, proved not only a worthy successor but a virtual vocal doppelganger.

Most fans seemed to welcome Pineda with open arms, and his wide smile, indefatigable stage presence and passionate performances seemed to win over any detractors. One female fan even snuck onto the stage to steal a quick embrace before security guards hauled her away, leaving the grinning Pineda to quip, “Anyone else?”

By the time the band played favorites such as Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Lights” and “Anyway You Want It,” most everyone was singing along, with Pineda’s voice soaring above all others and original guitarist Neal Schon burning up the solos.

The highlights of the set — apart from Pineda’s continual leaping, spinning and microphone flipping — were an extended version of “Wheel in the Sky” and the new and appropriate track “A Change for the Better.”

The Dark Knight Beat The Web Swinger

The bat cut the webs of the spider record...

The new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" broke the weekend record set by "Spider-Man 3" last year, selling an estimated $155.3 million worth of tickets during its first three days of release across the United States and Canada, distributor Warner Bros. Pictures said on Sunday.

The hotly anticipated film, co-starring late actor Heath Ledger as the anarchic Joker, surpassed the $151.1 million haul for "Spider-Man 3" during its first weekend in May 2007.

Going into the weekend, pundits had forecast an opening in the $100 million range, evidently underestimating the Batmania infecting movie fans across the world.

After he gave birth to his first child, the life of the Thomas Beatie known as the first pregnant man is set for a documentary film.

A British film and TV studio has won worldwide rights to produce a documentary about Thomas Beatie, who was born a woman but after surgery and hormone treatments lives as a man and gave birth last month in Oregon.

Delivery of the baby, conceived through artificial insemination using donor sperm and Beatie's own eggs, was confirmed by Beatie through People magazine on July 3.
